La Bottega

After “hitting a few balls” at the driving range at Chelsea Piers, Alex and I decided to get a drink at Bottega, at the Maritime Hotel.

We immediately asked the waitress for two Bloody Marys, with extra horseradish and olives. She informed us that the mix is premade but that we will surely be given extra olives (perfect, I'm a fiend for olives!). Meanwhile, we also ordered the Italian cheese and meat platter. No more than 3 minutes later, our drinks arrived.

First of all, our cups were much smaller than anticipated and the celery was noticeably absent. However, let me tell you that this Bloody Mary had quite a kick. We asked the waitress if the bartender had used a spicy vodka, but apparently the mix itself is very spicy. Anyhow, back to the drink. It was served in a small glass, with three olives, one lemon wedge and one lime wedge.

Alex gave it 3 ½ stars (out of 5) and I gave it 4. His comment on the drink was that "it is not your run of the mill drink; it has its own unique style..." About halfway through the drink however, we changed our rating to 3 stars from Alex and 3 ½ for me.

Overall, the drink was quite delicious for a premade Bloody Mary mix and it was a great combination with the platter that included grapes, honey, olives, and all kinds of cheeses such as goat cheese, raclette, gorgonzola and parmesan and meats such as mortadella, salami and prosciutto.

Combined Rating:
3 stars (out of 5)
Price:
$11 for Bloody Mary
$15 for Cheese & Meat Platter
Recommendation:

Intro-

Hi everyone-

Last night, my boyfriend Alex and I were craving Bloody Mary's and walked around for 30 minutes before finally finding a place that served the drink past 3 pm.
We then decided to go on a hunt for the next few weeks/months, who knows how long, until we find the BEST Bloody Mary in New York City.

Stay tuned for our first review.
